In 1970 I was co-founder of the Fotoclub Nieuwendam. After that member of the board. From that time I remember the organizing of club expositions and the R.F.E. exposition. (Regional Photo Exposition)
From 1975 tot 1978 I have been treasure of the region Amsterdam from the Dutch Photographic Society (Fotobond).
In 1979 I was co-founder of the Camera Club Nieuwendam and President till 1981. In 1979 when the Camera Club Nieuwendam started to participate in international salons I made contacts with members of the board of the Fotobond (the Dutch federation). In that year I have been appointed as secretary of foreign affairs and I did the job for more than 20 years.
In 1981 I became member of the Fotoclub Heerhugowaard. While member of the Fotoclub Heerhugowaard it became clear to me that something special should happen during the festivities of the 10 years the Fotoclub Heerhugowaard excised in 1983. That became the start of the international slide salon Tribute to Colour. The first one was in 1983 and in 2004 the 10th. The first 7 salons I was chairman with a lot of dear friends around me who helped me in the work to be done. I have been president of the Fotoclub Heerhugowaard from 1991 til 2002.
Because of the contacts with the secretary general of the Fotobond, the President Bob Schraa asked me to be a member of the board of the Fotobond. I became 2nd secretary in 1988 and secretary general short after the decease of Jos Boesten, my predecessor, I did the work more than 10 years.
In 1997 the Photo club Heerhugowaard took the initiative to reach a cooperation between 5 photo clubs and formed a photographic circuit. Later on the foundation Holland Circuit was formed and I am still president. In the meantime I was a member of the PSA from 1982 till 2001. I became president of the Photo club Heerhugowaard from 1981 till 2002.
My interest in international photography means representative of the Maitland Salon in Australia from 1981 till now.
In 1992 I was co-founder of the Foundation FIAP activities. In 1993 I have, together with others organized the 23rd FIAP Congress in the Netherlands.
I was Editor of the NieuwsMagazine from the Fotobond from 1996 till 2003.
My international contacts was one of the reasons for the FIAP Directory Board to asked me to be candidate for the FIAP Directory Board during the Congress in China in 1997. I have been elected during that Congress and became Secretary General in 1999. That very heavy function was, together with other things too much for me so I ended my membership of the FIAP Directory Board in 2003. From 2002 I am responsible for the FIAP Library. I made an inventory and took initiative to enlarge the amounts of books and catalogues.
In 2000 I was co-founder of the Netherlands Nature photographers foundation (NVN) and member of the board for one year.
As an international judge I did that work 23 times. In my own country I was judge for 13 times.
